Distressed Heart Cardboard Notecards

This projected started with two components:

1) a poorly thought out decorated shipping box…. decorated with Mod-Podged book pages and doodles with a variety of Sharpie colors… poorly thought out because I hadn’t considered what would happen if the box was left out in the rain (sticky mess) or stuck in a hot mail car all day (sticky mess). I set the box aside.

2) a need for “note cards” to include in swap packages. I’ve been looking for note cards I like for months now… nada.

And then it hit me — I sliced up the box, used an x-acto to carve a heart in each slice and then colored the heart. Voilà! Note cards that suit me.

And later I’ll explain how this project (and a sink filled with dirty dishwater) led to a new brooch for me.

Oh yes, you read that right.

Uber groovy notecards! I am sitting here imagining you dropping one of the cut out heart shapes in the dishwater and seeing it morph into all measure of fantastical brooches. Cannot wait to see what really happened!
